Overview of Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF)
OCF offers college students rich community in Christ, inspiring a life-long love of God and neighbor. We are looking for a full-time Advancement Officer who has a passion for ministry to college students to join our team.
Position Overview
This is a remote full-time, salaried position that reports directly to our Executive Director. The Advancement Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, managing, and nurturing strong relationships with donors- both expanding our donor base and cultivating individual gifts in the $5,000+ annual giving range. This position is a donor-facing position and requires strong interpersonal skills and a passion for OCF’s mission. This position works under the direction of the Executive Director to ensure that ample unrestricted funds are generated to enhance and support the overall mission.
The Advancement Officer will achieve the above by building and managing a portfolio of major gift prospects, developing and implementing strategies for donor engagement, and fostering long-term relationships with individuals, parishes, and organizations across the United States.
Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Executive Director and in collaboration with the Advancement Team, develop, implement, and manage OCF’s major donor program (individuals in the $5,000+ annual giving range), including establishing short-term and long-term strategies
- Research and identify prospects for matching, momentum-building, and major gifts
- Cultivate current and potential major donor relationships- making asks, securing gifts, and stewarding donors
- Identify and execute opportunities for in-person presentations to parishes, organizations, and donors, with the goal of expanding OCF’s donor base
- Assist in producing annual appeals, renewals, upgrade materials, and all other correspondence and stewardship specific to major giving
- Collaborate with staff to ensure consistency with communications, messaging, and asks.
- Ensure that gifts are acknowledged promptly and appropriately
- Assist in organizing fundraising events in coordination with the advancement team.
- Manage expenses and adhere to advancement budget
- Ensure accurate and timely recordkeeping and reporting
- Stay current on fundraising best practices and tax laws so accurate information can be provided to prospects
- Assist with other duties assigned by the Executive Director
Ideal Background
- Proven record of success in fundraising, communications, or sales is highly desirable
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Ability to clearly and convincingly articulate the ministry of OCF and the case for major gift support of its ministry
- Capacity to inspire trust and confidence that support is being stewarded in an appropriate and efficient manner
- Excellent time management skills, organized, and willing to be held accountable
- Technologically savvy; experience with Google Workspace, monday.com, and/or donor management software/CRM is a plus
- Understanding of the basic tenets of Christian stewardship as understood through the lens of the Orthodox Church
Requirements
- Exceptional communicator, both written and spoken, with ability to establish deep relationships with donors
- Understanding of the traditional teachings of the Orthodox Christian Church, as well as the diverse cultural backgrounds within the Orthodox community, with an ability to work inclusively across jurisdictions and parish demographics
- Exhibit a self-starting approach, taking ownership of tasks and adapting to overcome obstacles for optimal results
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on a team and to build and maintain positive relationships with all levels of the organization
- Strong analytical skills and ability to apply strategic and creative thinking
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Maturity, tactfulness, good judgment, and ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 7-10 days per month, including some weekends
- Resonate with OCF core values and mission
Salary is commensurate with experience.
