Parish Life Director

Reports To: Parish Priest & Parish Council President

Position Overview:

The Parish Life Director will serve as a key leader in the spiritual and community life of St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, coordinating all Youth Ministries while also supporting essential parish operations. This individual will foster a vibrant, Christ-centered environment for our youth and families, while helping ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the parish office and communications. This role requires a strong Orthodox Christian foundation, a heart for youth ministry, and a collaborative, service-oriented spirit to support the continued growth of our Youth Programs and the broader church community.

Key Responsibilities:

Youth & Ministry Support
  • Partner with youth leaders to develop and sustain youth programs aligned with Orthodox faith and values
  • Teach a Sunday School class and collaborate on curriculum.
  • Provide support and coordination for youth ministries and programs, including the following:
    • HOPE/JOY
    • GOYA
    • YAL
    • Hellenic Dance/HDF
    • Greek School
  • Support youth involvement in retreats, service projects, fellowship events, and parish-wide activities
  • Maintain communication with youth, parents, volunteers, and parish leadership through regular emails, calendars, and social media.
  • Foster an inclusive, welcoming environment that encourages youth participation and growth in the faith.
Administrative & Communications Support
  • Staff the church office during weekday hours to respond to calls, emails, and walk-in inquiries
  • Assist with bulletin preparation, event planning, and church operations
  • Work in partnership with the Parish Council to support administrative and operational needs
  • Maintain accurate ministry and youth records, registrations, and coordinate with the parish bookkeeper as needed
  • Manage and support parish communications including emails, calendars, and social media
  • Help create a welcoming, inclusive parish environment that supports youth and adult faith development

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferred candidates will be graduates of Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.
  • Practicing Orthodox Christian in good standing with the Church.
  • Proficiency in Greek is preferred.
  • Experience working with youth or in ministry settings is desirable.
  • Strong organizational, communication, technology and leadership skills.
  • Flexibility, initiative, and a strong work ethic are essential.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule of up to 50 hours a week that includes evenings, weekends, and feast days.

Schedule & Time Commitment

  • Weekdays: 4 days during the week, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM (20 hours/week)
  • Weekday Evenings: 2–3 evenings per week (12 hours/week)
  • Weekends: Saturdays (events) and Sundays (Liturgy/ministry) (14 hours/week)
  • One day off per week, to be mutually agreed upon, may impact weekday office schedule
