Mission Statement:
The Neighborhood Resilience Project is a faith based non-profit organization located in Pittsburgh PA. Rooted in the Gospel and teachings of the Orthodox Church, inspired by the Civil Rights Movement (American 1950s-1960s), the mission of the Neighborhood Resilience Project is to support the transformation of neighborhoods from Trauma Affected Communities to Resilient Healing and Healthy Communities through Trauma Informed Community Development.
Position Summary:
Neighborhood Resilience Project Community Support Program Manager is responsible for motivating, supervising, and coaching the Community Support full-time, part-time workers, external contractors, and interns and directing their work output. This position will also write performance reviews and when necessary performance improvement plans. The Community Support Department is the first point of contact for neighbors and people using the Community Room Drop-in Center. They will provide basic core services such as food, clothing and psychological support and connection for residents, many who have experienced historical and generational trauma. The Community Room Drop-in Center is often the only shelter or safe place of connection for residents. The Community Support staff must exemplify the ministry’s Christian values of love and compassion for others.
Essential Job Functions:
As Program Manager this person will address the following roles and responsibilities:
- Manages the Community Support Team staff, interns and volunteers
- Provides needed support to the staff and community
- Meets with staff on a weekly basis to ensure proper staff development
- Complete daily tracking reports on attendance, food, clothing, and household needs provided to residents
- Motivates, develops and trains the Community Support staff
- Ensures adequate supplies are ordered in a timely manner
- Ensures adequate staffing is provided to meet the needs
- Writes performance reviews and Performance Improvement Plans as needed for the staff
- Ensure that residents are greeted with a smile, compassion, and psychological support
- Ensures that the Community Room Drop-in Center building opens and closes in a timely manner.
- Determines resident needs and provides needed food, clothing, and household services
- Encourages positive behaviors with staff and manages crowd control when necessary
- Solicit volunteers from the Community Room Drop-in Center to assist with programs and services
- Ensures that clothing donations and the clothing closet are managed and organized
- Ensures the room is available for 12:00 noon prayer services
- Ensures that staff serve lunches and designated meals in a timely manner
- Resolves conflicts between residents attending the Community Room Drop-in Center and keep management abreast of any problems
- Recommends policies and procedures for the Community Room Drop-In Center
- Ensures that Therapeutic Interactions occur and are recorded with community people
- Complete other duties as required by the Director of Community Health and Support
Work Schedule and Work Dress:
- The general work schedule will be from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. as needed
- Dress is business casual unless otherwise specified by the CEO or COO.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree or higher is preferred or the equivalent lived experience
- Experience working with marginalized people groups that have experienced community trauma
- A minimum of two years supervisory experience
- Excellent conflict management and/or mediation skills
- Be a positive role model for staff and residents
- Experienced in engaging community members
- Excellent skills using MS Office Suite
- Comfortable talking with individuals in person and in groups
- Ability to work with diverse populations, skills, disabilities and personalities
- Flexible
- Patient and calm
- Willingness to follow established protocols from the leadership team
- Must have reliable transportation and a reliable cell phone
- Willingness to learn and serve

- Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)
- First Aid/CPR/AED
- Therapeutic Interactions Training
