Choir Director
The Saint Luke Greek Orthodox Church located in East Longmeadow, MA, is in the process of revitalizing its choir. We are seeking a director to lead, inspire, and bring together a combination of former and new choir members. The ideal candidate should not only have musical expertise but also lead the choir by enhancing the worship life of those attending.
Responsibilities:
- Arrange for rehearsals following Divine Liturgy on Sundays until teaching/learning is gradually accomplished by newer members;
- Collaborate with the priest and the chanters to enhance the worship experience of the faithful;
- Gradually teach and insert responses and hymns that will eventually be sung during the Liturgy;
- Foster musical and spiritual growth of the choir and parish.
Requirements:
- Past experience in directing /leading choir during an Orthodox Liturgy is preferable however, others with knowledge of the Orthodox Liturgy may apply;
- Strong communication, teaching, and leadership skills;
- Commitment to the mission to enhance the Liturgy at Saint Luke’s.
Compensation: $250.00/week
Liturgy: Sunday 9:30 – 11:00 (arrive by 9:00 to check in with priest and chanter)
Rehearsal: Following Sunday Liturgy after a quick break; rehearsal is approximately 45 minutes
