Associate Director of Operations

FOCUS North America is searching for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Associate Director of Operations within the national staff. This position is a full-time employment opportunity with benefits (vacation, health insurance, 401k). Travel (15%, some weekend travel) and some evening meetings are anticipated for the role.

The Associate Director of Operations will supervise a portfolio of Center Directors, ensuring that all programs are run effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with FOCUS’s mission and policies and procedures. The role will also support those Center Directors as they expand and grow FOCUS Center operations through strategic growth initiatives, community engagement, and building partnerships with Orthodox Christian organizations, donors, and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, mission-driven, and possess a deep understanding of the Orthodox Christian faith and its communities. On top of managing Center Directors and supporting them in meeting goals and expectations, this role will also necessitate developing a relationship with Center Advisory Committees and other key local stakeholders.

The position reports to the Director of Operations.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in either nonprofit management, business management, operational management, or a field with transferable skills.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in business and/or nonprofit operations, growth strategy, and community outreach, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience working within or alongside the Orthodox Christian community preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing budgets, teams, and operational processes.
  • 5-7 years of experience in people management leading a mid to large sized, tiered team.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically and manage both short-term and long-term goals.
  • Proven ability to drive growth, lead fundraising initiatives, and develop sustainable partnerships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with manager; experience operating inside of a matrix organization.
  • Preferred proficiency in Google Workspace and nonprofit database management software.
