About the CrossRoad Summer Program
The CrossRoad Summer Program is a 10-day academic institute that prepares high school juniors and seniors to make big life decisions and invites them to connect with the Orthodox Christian theological and spiritual tradition in a deep and meaningful way. CrossRoad offers a space for young people to form authentic and lifelong friendships, ask hard questions, and explore their calling as an Orthodox Christian in our 21st world.

- Are excited to facilitate young people’s agency and learning- planting the seed of the love of both God and the Church in their hearts and minds, while also creating the environment necessary for them to explore their questions
- Believe in the benefit of nurturing the next generation of young Orthodox Christians who will serve their parishes, communities, and the world through their deepened understanding of the faith after their CrossRoad summer.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with CrossRoad Summer Lead Director to:
- Interview and hire staff and interns for all CrossRoad Summer programs
- Review, revise and implement a program staff training curriculum and place and assure compelling, engaged leadership of staff training meetings/retreats
- Oversee the management and review of CrossRoad applications and correspondence
- Oversee the management of logistical preparations for CrossRoad including
- All logistics of off-campus excursions, faculty and professor guest speakers, staff-led faith-based sessions, staff training retreats, and parish visits to the various Orthodox parishes of various jurisdictions in proximity to the summer program’s location
- Serve to assist in Alumni Initiatives in the planning and running of the Annual CrossRoad Alumni Retreat
- Assist the Communications Director in various promotional efforts to recruit participant applications and keep alumni connected
- Collaborate regularly with the CRI team for weekly meetings, brainstorming, and evaluation
- Maintain good office organization and digital storage of files
- Serve to assist CRI in piloting and supporting various growth areas as needed- parish presentations, staffing events, etc.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven leadership and management skills
- High degree of initiative
- Strong partnership-building and event planning skills
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Proven ability to operate effectively and timely with multiple goals at hand
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Solid grounding in Orthodox Christian Church life
- Outgoing and upbeat attitude
- Good rapport with high school and college students
- Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, relationship and pastoral sensitivity including but not limited to
- Providing the time and space for mentoring relationships and conversations between staff and CR participants/alumni/CYML candidates
- Engaging in empathetic listening to facilitate and foster healthy group dynamics with program staff and each CrossRoad session through attentiveness to staff dynamics, cliques, behavior, social pressures, and general community life
- Creating an environment that supports effective ways of fostering continued growth in young people
- Graduate-level studies in Orthodox theology preferred
