Head of School
Responsibilities Include:
- Leadership – Serve as a centralizing leadership figure within the school and as liaison in the local community and with the Cathedral, working closely with the CMS Board of Directors.
- Administrative Duties – Ensure the success of all school programs, maintain compliance with applicable laws and assure proper day to day operations of the school at all times. Responsible for all aspects of the school operation, administration, financial management, supervision and oversight. This is a full time 12-month per year on campus position.
- Curriculum and Staff Development – Work closely with the Director of the school in coordinating curricula and oversee the development of educational programs and enhancement programs for the teachers and staff.
- Parent Relations – Have weekly meetings with the Director about classroom issues with students, teachers, and parents.
- Community Engagement – Represent the school in the Greater New Orleans community
Qualifications
Master’s Degree, Knowledge Of Montessori Education, Experience As A Coordinator, and in Strategic Planning, Financial Management And Educational Policy.

Principal Duties of the Head of School
Overall
- Responsibility For The Administrative Success Of The Operation Of The School And All School Programs Including Office And Financial Responsibility And Oversight.
- Ensure That The School Is In Compliance With All The Applicable Governmental Laws And Regulations, With All Board Requirements And With Requirements From The Holy Trinity Cathedral Board Of Trustees.
Organization
- Coordinates Scheduling Of And Attends, All Required School Functions And Activities.
- Works With Public Relations Staff To Properly And Effectively Publicize The School
- Coordinates Programs That Include The Cathedral Or That Involve The School And Cathedral Interaction And/Or Working Together
- Oversees The Completion And Updating Of The Annual School Policy Publication
Finance
- Serves As Business Manager For Cms And Oversees All Expense Matters Of The School And Reports Financial Matters Regularly To The Cms Board Of Directors..
- Executes The Financial Policy Set By The Board Of Directors, Including Communicating Board Policy And Decisions To Parents And Prospective Parents
- Assists The Bookkeeper And Board Treasurer With Financial Issues, Both Short And Long- Term Planning, And Works With The Board On Finalization And Adherence To The School Annual Budget.
- Applies For And Maintains Grants
- Assists In Coordination And Execution Of Fund-Raising Plans
- Serves As A Resource For The Fundraising Chair
- Assures That A Yearly Sum Is Presented To The Cathedral As A Stewardship
Personnel
Teaching Staff:
- Assists Director In Recruitment Of Teaching Staff
- Creates The Teacher Agreements For All Teachers
- Completes All Staffing Hires And Communicates Regarding Any Hiring Issues
- Meets With Director To Be Cognizant Of All Teachers/Programs Across All Classrooms
- Seeks Out After School Enrichment Programs, Assures Implementation And Oversees Them
- Works With The Director To Develop Professional Development For Staff
- Implements Hiring Requirements For All Staff And As Required By The Board.
Non-Teaching Staff:
- Selects And Employs Non-Teaching Personnel Needed For The Operation Of The School
- Advises Board On Status Of All Non-Teaching Staff
Enrollment
- Meets With And Explains The Cms School Mission Program To Prospective Families
- Oversees And Coordinates Recruitment Of Students
- Works Closely With The Director On All Aspects Regarding Admissions
- Oversees And Coordinates Enrollment Of Graduating Sixth Graders Into Respective Middle Schools
- Oversees And Implements Any School Scholarships Or Discount Programs
Education
- Meets Regularly With The Director To:
- Coordinate Curricula
- Help Guide Teachers In Achieving Their Educational Goals
- Assist Where Needed To Resolve Classroom Issues And Maintain School Discipline Policy
Public Relations
- Coordinates All Internal And External School Communications
- Serves As Spokesperson For Cms
- Maintains Constructive Liaisons With Other Educational Institutions And Associations
- Facilitates Communication Among All The School’s Constituents And Encourages Their Participation In Cms Activities And Events
- Works To Provide A Good Relationship With The Cathedral
School Facilities, Equipment, Daily Operations
- Oversees Daily Operations Of School, Ensuring A Safe And Friendly Environment
- Attends To Tasks And Responsibilities Associated With Successful Operation Of School (E.G. Communication, Security, Maintenance) In An As-Needed And Sometimes Hands On Capacity
- Supervises Maintenance Of All School Equipment And Facilities
- Supervises The Maintenance Of Cms As An Aesthetically Attractive And Safe Environment
- Advises Board On Facilities And Equipment Improvement
Operations Support
- Remains Informed Of Trends, Research And Legislation That May Affect Cms Management, Operation, And Policy
- Advises Board When Policy Changes Or Actions May Be Necessary
- Maintains A Comprehensive Set Of Records On Students, Staff, And Prospective Students
Responsibility to Board of Directors
- Serves As Non-Voting Member Of The Board And Is Expected To Attend All Board Meetings
- Keeps The Board President Informed Of All Aspects Of School Operations
- Brings The Board’s Attention To Issues That May Require Board Action Or Board Education
- Communicates All Board Policies And Changes To The Teaching Staff And Non-Teaching Staff Members
- Serves As A Resource For The Board In Developing New Policies And Initiatives
- Serves As Resource For The Treasurer And The Board On Financial Matters
- Represents The Board And Board Decision And Policies To Parents When Appropriate.
