Church Office Administrator

The Assumption Greek Orthodox Church is seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Church Office Administrator to join our parish team. This full-time, in-person position supports the Priest, Parish Council, and ministry leaders to ensure smooth daily operations, effective communication, and vibrant youth programming. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is a strong leader, tech-savvy, and passionate about serving both the administrative and ministry needs of our church community.

Position Details

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm
  • Compensation: $50,000–$60,000 per year
  • Location: On-site at the church (hybrid schedule may be considered in coordination with office staff)
  • Report directly to Parish Priest and work together with office staff.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support
  • Assist clergy and ministry leaders with daily office operations
  • Maintain records, oversee office supplies, and manage filing systems
  • Coordinate with vendors and serve as the central point of contact for all projects
  • Handle mailings, errands, and logistics for parish events and activities
Communication & Outreach
  • Manage church emails, phone calls, and greet visitors, parishioners, and vendors with professionalism
  • Maintain and update member databases
  • Write, design, and distribute church marketing material (newsletters and flyers)
  • Oversee church website content, social media, and email management 
Facility & Event Coordination
  • Schedule hall rentals and organize room setups
  • Coordinate facility maintenance and coffee hour logistics (planning, purchasing, coordination)
  • Plan and support parish events and special projects
  • Vendor and project management/coordination
  • Water pick-up/delivery coordination
  • Occasional errands (e.g., large mailings, supply runs)
Youth Ministry 
  • Organize and promote youth events, including religious, cultural, and social activities
  • Prepare and maintain the youth ministry event calendar
  • Manage events such as GOYA/YAL, Jr. Olympics, Church basketball, Oratorical festival, Fanari, Crossroads, Lighthouse, and coordination of events with Chicago parishes

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook) and cloud-based tools (OneDrive)
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, professional etiquette, and phone skills
  • Experience in event coordination or customer service (preferred)
  • Sensitivity to cultural and church protocols
  • Self-driven, customer service-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Valid driver’s license
