Assistant Controller

Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily and as needed:

  • Payables/invoices using Quickbooks
  • Day to day operations of the church and office
  • Deposits of checks and cash

Monthly:

  • Process and reconcile payroll
  • Process Stewardship payments
  • Assist in preparation of financial statements for review by Treasurer and distribution to ministries and Parish Council
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
  • Financial Reporting

Annual:

  • Year-end 1099 reporting
  • Ad hoc reports

Skills and Specifications:

  • Knowledge of basic generally accepted accounting principles and practices applicable to not-for-profit organizations
  • Strong organizational skiils; ability to multitask, handling multiple projects and requests at the same time
  • Detail-oriented and analytical problem solving and data analysis
  • Proficient with Quickbooks, Microsoft Suite products (i.e., Word, Excel)
  • Must have excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Strong team player and moral compass

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, preferable accounting or finance; experience working in a not-for-profit organization is a plus
