Social Media Intern


As an agency of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States, Orthodox Christian Prison Ministry (OCPM) meets the spiritual needs of people in prison through case management, letters, emails, phone calls, and in-person visitation. OCPM also facilitates and coaches Orthodox clergy and lay volunteers for face-to-face visitation in their own locale. As of May 2024, OCPM currently serves nearly 1,400 people in prison in 481 facilities across the United States.


OCPM is seeking a part-time Social Media Intern to work within the Development Team to further establish strong, mutually beneficial connections between OCPM and our broader audience. This position aims to foster a sense of community and help grow monetary and voluntary resources for OCPM programs.


Social Media Content Creation

  • Create and implement 3-5 weekly posts on the OCPM Facebook and Instagram pages

  • Establish non-profit status across social media platforms in order to better utilize donation features

  • Research current nonprofit social media trends and best practices, including expanding OCPM’s presence across other social media platforms

Personal Development

  • Attend weekly meetings with the OCPM Development Team

  • Identify and explore your own gifts and interests toward developing your sense of vocation and discerning where God might be calling you in the future

  • Write a series of short reflection essays on the nature of prison ministry and Orthodox Christian ministry in general (to be shared and discussed with the Annual Giving Manager)

  • Write one culminating reflection over your internship experience to be published across OCPM’s media channels

  • Stipend: $500

  • Weekly Commitment: 3-5 hours

  • Positions Available: 1 Fall Intern, 1 Spring Intern

  • Who Can Apply: Ages 18-23 


  • Effective communication and writing skills with a strong attention to detail

  • Creativity and initiative to follow through on projects in a remote work setting

  • Up-to-date experience creating social media content required

  • Prior experience in a non-profit preferred

  • Canva, Asana, and Adobe InDesign experience preferred 

  • Prior relevant coursework preferred
