Youth Director
The Annunciation Parish was established in 1916 and it is the spiritual home of more than 400 devoted Orthodox stewards in the greater Brockton area. Our community is comprised of welcoming and loving congregants who are excited to share our hospitable outlook, vibrant ministries, and rich sacramental life.
We are currently looking for a committed and practicing Orthodox Christian who will oversee and coordinate, under the supervision of our Presiding Priest, the youth programs and activities and develop an outreach program that will foster a stronger connection of our youth with the church's liturgical life as well as its social and philanthropic work.
Responsible to:
- Priest and Parish Council
Time Requirements:
- Number of hours per week negotiable
- Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- A committed and practicing Orthodox Christian
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Ability to teach and model the teachings of the Orthodox Christian faith
- Have a strong passion for connecting young people to Christ and His Church
- Experience working in the Church environment
- Youth work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Theology from an Orthodox Christian Seminary or College
Specific Responsibilities:
- Oversee & develop the current youth ministry programs of the parish (GOYA, Joy, Hope)
- Develop and implement an outreach program for the youth
- Work closely with Sunday School director and teachers
- Maintain regular communication with the youth and their families through the weekly bulletin, email, Facebook, and personal communication
- Update youth sections of parish website with articles, announcements, and photos
- Recruit, train, and supervise advisors & leaders for each of our youth ministry groups
- Assist with planning of regular activities for each age group, including meetings, outings, retreats, service projects, and field trips
- Encourage participation in Metropolis and Archdiocese programs, including Metropolis of Boston Youth Camp, St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival, Orthodoxy-on-Tap, etc.
General Responsibilities:
- Active participation in the liturgical life of the parish, including offering weekly children’s sermons and bi-monthly homilies
- Assist with parish functions as deemed appropriate by the priest
