Social Media Coordinator/Administrative Assistant

Position Type: Part time (20 hrs/wk) – Exempt

Organizational Management Reporting:

  • Reports to the Director of FOCUS Southern California
  • Collaborates and coordinates with FOCUS North America Communications Associate and Development Associate

Responsibilities:

  • Drafts and updates a schedule for regular social media posts sharing the work of FOCUS Southern California
  • Drafts regular newsletters and blogs that share the work of FOCUS Southern California
  • Drafts press releases sharing the work of FOCUS Southern California
  • Attends and documents (photos, videos, etc.) events at FOCUS Southern California, as required by Director of FOCUS Southern California
  • Supports the Director of FOCUS Southern California in the preparation of presentations and slide decks
  • Assists the Director of FOCUS Southern California with general accounting functions utilizing various web-based software products
  • Assists the Director of FOCUS Southern California in preparing reports for community partners such as Giving Children Hope, the LA Regional Food Bank, and other local nonprofits
  • Assists the Director of FOCUS Southern California in preparing gift acknowledgements for larger donations
  • Responds to email and telephone inquiries on behalf of the Director
  • Assists the Director of FOCUS Southern California with volunteer management and scheduling
  • Oversees certain elements of the Advisory Board's work, as designated by the Director of FOCUS Southern California
  • Assists the Director of FOCUS Southern California with other projects and duties, as determined by the Director

Education Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree within a relevant field of study preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experience in social media, marketing, or communications work
  • Familiarity with photography and photo editing software a major plus
  • Familiarity with Donorperfect a plus
  • Familiarity with the doctrines and traditions of the Orthodox Church

  • Ability to understand and work with homeless, impoverished, and / or vulnerable communities and demographics
  • Demonstrated advanced communication skills (written and verbal)

Working Conditions:

  • Must reside in general proximity of FOCUS Southern California
  • Nominal but present security risk working with vulnerable communities at FOCUS Southern California events
