Quantity Cook/Baker

Antiochian Village is a Christian conference and retreat center located on 300 acres in the beautiful Laureal Highlands region of southwestern Pennsylvania, just six miles north of the historic town of Ligonier.  Owned and operated by the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, Antiochian Village was established in 1978 through the vision and leadership of the Archbishop, Metropolitan Philip, who dreamed of a lace where the faithful of all ages could meet, worship, and become closer to God, away from the distractions of daily life.

The quantity Cook/Baker at the Antiochian Village must work autonomously within the framework of both the conference center and camp kitchens.  Food as well as pastries, and baked goods must be prepared to the high standard of Antiochian Village.  The job purpose of the quantity cook/baker is to plan, prepare, cook, bake and serve a variety of foods in quantity and to assist into their food preparation duties and inventory processes for our cafeteria style operation.  They are also responsible for handling food allergen management, as well as to maintain facilities in accordance with safety and sanitation requirements.

Key Requirements:

  1. Must have ServeSafe Certification and understanding of all federal, state and local food sanitation regulations and practices
  2. Must have a strong basic knowledge of baking skills including but not limited to pies, breads, sweet dough, cookies, yeast dough and savory products
  3. Must be able to prepare and cook foods of all types in quantities
  4. Must be able to determine proper quantities of food items for cooking and baking
  5. Must be able to adjust and extend recipes based on quantity required
  6. Must be able to maintain and update inventory processes and order supplies when necessary
  7. Must have knowledge of how to handle and manage food allergens
  8. Must be able to "cost-out" specific recipes to meet menu cost requirements

This position will split their time between the camp and the conference center kitchens.  Between May-August, this person will be stationed at the camp where they will be responsible to assist in preparation of and estimated 430 plates three (3) times a day (1290 plates total per day) alongside the kitchen staff.  The remaining parts of the year your time will be split between the camp and the conference center.

This position is a full-time salaried position plus benefits.  Salary is $30,000 benefit package includes health insurance, dental and vision as well as 8 paid holidays, 2 weeks vacation and 5 personal days.
