St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church in Troy, NY is seeking one to two currently enrolled seminarians to assist the parish chanter to carry out the services for Holy Week 2023.

 

Availability for the full schedule of Holy Week would be preferred, but in any case, at least from Holy Wednesday evening (Sacrament of Holy Unction) through Holy Saturday with the Resurrectional service and Divine Liturgy. The day of Pascha (Vespers of Agape) is also requested but negotiable. Language for the services is either Greek or English.

 

This is a useful opportunity for interested seminary students to gain some hands-on experience with parish-level ministry and to help support traditional worship and piety at an established small to mid-size parish, working together with a single chanter and an experienced parish priest during this week. The parish is very warm, friendly and welcoming, and is located in eastern New York state close to the Amtrak station at Albany-Rensselaer (approximately 3 hours' drive from HC/HC). A generous stipend (negotiable depending on how much of Holy Week the applicant(s) are available) will be provided as well as room at a very nice local hotel along with cost of meals.
