Overview of St. Innocent Orphanage: St. Innocent Orphanage is a Orthodox Christian orphanage that cares for boys and young men who are in need of care outside of Tijuana, Mexico.  Position Overview: 

  • Oversee the education of the boys and young men living at St. Innocent Orphanage and supervise the education department.

 Responsibilities:

  • Oversee onsite tutoring program and teaching staff, creating behavior systems and implementing programs
  • Tutor and provide daily homework help to the boys at the orphanage
  • Attend meeting at the schools and regularly communicate with teachers and principals, working closely with the schools the boys attend providing support and consultation as needed
  • Make decisions about the boys/young men’ educations paths and find appropriate opportunities for them
  • Mentor and guide the boys of St. Innocent Orphanage inside and outside of the classroom
  • Mange behavior and teach appropriate study skills
  • Work alongside the Orphanage director and provide consultation
  • Coordinate and participate in holiday activities and celebrations as well are care for the boys, acting as a counselor during school vacations and holidays
  • Purchase school supplies, uniforms, and pay necessary fees and tuition costs.
  • Report to the Executive Director and Board of Directors on boys/young men’s educational progress and updates on the education program
  • Attend weekly meetings and communicate information about the education to Orphanage and leadership staff

Ideal Background and qualities:

  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Teaching experience/education
  • Experience working with youth
  • Patience
  • Good communication skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Strong faith
