About CrossRoad:

CrossRoad Institute Inc. (CRI) is a small, dynamic team dedicated to fulfilling its mission to train, educate, and inspire the next generation of leaders for the Orthodox Church. One of CRI’s core programs is the CrossRoad Summer Institute, a ten-day academic experience for Orthodox Christian students who have just finished their junior or senior year in high school which is now going into its twentieth season. The summer program has four sessions in 2023: two in the Boston area at Hellenic College (June 9–19 and June 23–July 3), one in the San Francisco area at Dominican University of California (July 5–July 15), and one in Chicago at North Park University (July 22–August 1).

CrossRoad Institute Inc. seeks two administrative interns for CrossRoad 2023 summer sessions:

Team Cross Administrative Intern

  • Session 1 (June 9–19 in Boston) and Session 2 (June 23–July 3 in Boston)
    • Start date: May 30
    • End date: July 5
    • Exact start and end dates to be determined in conjunction with CrossRoad leadership

Team Road Administrative Intern

  • Session 3 (July 5–15 in San Francisco) and Session 4 (July 22–August 1 in Chicago)
    • Start date: June 20 (in Boston)
    • End date: August 2
    • Exact start and end dates to be determined in conjunction with CrossRoad leadership

The administrative intern would serve as a backbone to the CrossRoad program, assisting in all logistical and administrative tasks to make sure the program runs smoothly.  Through this position, the intern will gain experience in project management, event coordination, and task management and will gain first-hand experience as to the inner workings of a vibrant ministry in the Orthodox Church.

  • Before a session, the intern will coordinate with CrossRoad leadership to discuss administrative needs, goals and objectives as they align with CRI’s administrative goals. The intern will familiarize themselves with their sessions’ schedules and will help organize logistics and materials.
  • During a session, the intern would serve as the main administrative assistant, fulfilling the key areas of responsibility and assisting CrossRoad leadership as needed. The intern will have a daily check-in with CrossRoad leadership.
  • In between sessions, the intern will wrap up any administrative needs from the previous session and assist with logistics for the next one.
  • After their last session, the intern will wrap up any administrative needs and meet with CrossRoad leadership to reflect on the internship experience.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Meet with supervisors via Zoom, meeting before and after the role start and end dates (dates and times to be determined) to go over role expectations and onboarding materials
  • Maintain organization and perform daily operations as needed or assigned
  • Support CrossRoad leadership with any and all administrative tasks
  • Answer phones
  • Monitor incoming email
  • Photocopy, print, organize, and distribute materials
  • Maintain files and database for CrossRoad participants
  • Run errands as needed (must be able to drive)
  • Manage catering for CrossRoad meals during sessions
  • Manage transportation logistics
  • Establish and maintain contact with business partners, faculty and staff, various clergy members, and other close associates of the program as needed or assigned
  • Adhere to and enforce all CrossRoad program policies
  • Other duties and tasks as needed

Experience Required

  • Strong knowledge of all Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong knowledge of Google Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail, and Forms
  • Must be able to drive

Travel & Time Commitment

  • Dates/Hours:
    • Meeting before and after designated sessions via Zoom (dates and times to be determined based on availability of all parties, not to exceed a total of 4 hours of meeting time)
    • Approximately 40 hours per week
    • Flexibility required when 40 hours per week take place during the sessions
      • Expected work hours to be determined with CrossRoad leadership
  • Break times and mandatory rest periods during and in between sessions to be determined with CrossRoad leadership.
    • Interns are required to remain with the team in the designated city before, during, and in between sessions.
      • Team Cross Intern stays in the Boston area.
      • Team Road Intern stays in the Boston area June 20–June 30, San Francisco area June 30–July 17, and Chicago area July 17–August 2.
  • Interns are responsible for travel to and from the internship.
    • Team Cross Administrative Intern: to and from Hellenic College
    • Team Road Administrative Intern: to Hellenic College and from North Park University
  • Travel between sessions will be covered for the Team Road Administrative Intern.
    • From Boston training to the San Francisco session
    • From the San Francisco session to the Chicago session

Compensation

  • $3000 total for each intern’s respective date ranges (Team Cross or Team Road)
