Middle and high school Science instructor

St. John of San Francisco Orthodox Academy, a small co-ed college preparatory K-12 Orthodox Christian school, has existed for 27 years by the mercy of God and thanks to the intercessions of our patron saint, St.John of Shanghai and San Francisco. We are a not-for-profit educational institution with class sizes ranging from 3-5 students and we are currently hiring qualified teachers for the upcoming school year starting onAugust 23rd.

Our mission is to provide a rigorous Classical education in a loving Orthodox Christian environment.

We have a part-time position open for Middle School/High School Science instructor. We are looking for an instructor to teach middle school Earth Science, middle school Physical Science, high school Biology 1 andBiology 2. The total number of teaching hours per week is 19 45-minute classes.

Qualifications for this teaching position

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Teaching experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders, including children and adults with limited English

Job Functions

  • Prepare and implement engaging lessons in Earth Science, Physical Science, and Biology for middle
  • school and high school levels using the St. John’s Mathematics curricula
  • Think creatively and be resourceful in the implementation of labs and science experiments using limited
  • resources
  • Assess student achievement using a variety of assessment tools
  • Provide feedback to students about their progress in a timely, supportive manner
  • Differentiate instruction for students with a variety of modes of learning
  • Communicate progress with students and their parents/guardians

Compensation

Part-time teachers are not eligible for medical or dental benefits from the Academy
