Professor of Canon Law

Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology announces the availability of a tenure-track position in Canon Law to begin July 1, 2022.

Candidates must have a Ph. D., or its equivalent, in studies related to Orthodox Canon Law or in Canonical Studies, and must be well-versed in Patristic/Byzantine Greek.

Evidence of effective teaching skills is important, as is also an indication of scholarly participation in the field through writing and research, as well as engagement in activities (conferences, membership in organizations, etc.) related to Canon Law.

Since Holy Cross strives to educate leaders, both clergy and laypersons, it is expected that an applicant for this position would be involved in the life of a local parish, either as a cleric or layperson, and be comfortable and knowledgeable in the ethos of the Orthodox Church as experienced in America.

In addition, the Professor of Canon Law will often be called upon to serve as a consultant on canonical matters to the Greek Orthodox Archbishop of America, the Eparchial Synod, individual Hierarchs, and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America generally.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Please email a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation by December 15 to: resumes@hchc.edu
