Finding employment is not only about matching your skills with an appropriate position. In today’s tough job market, strong interviewing skills are essential to land your dream job. Within Orthodox Christian networks, this remains true. A person with great talents may go overlooked if he or she is unable to express what those talents are.

The Orthodox Church in America has developed a series of webinars for job seekers. The first broadcast has already come and gone, but stay tuned for the next. The exact dates and links for registration are in the text taken from the OCA press release below.

The Orthodox Church in America’s Department of Youth, Young Adult and Campus Ministry will offer a series of web-based seminars geared toward equipping youth, young adults, and individuals at all levels of their career with skills and competencies required for job searches, resume application materials, interview preparation, and building a personal ‘brand’ in order to enter the work force or explore new career opportunities. Through these webinars, the department hopes to link youth and young adults to Orthodox Christian human resources and other professionals who can give them advantages in an increasingly competitive job market.

The first webinar, “Getting the Right Resume,” will be presented at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time on January 31, 2013.  The presenter will be Tatiana Hoff, a graduate student in Organizational Psychology who has been employed at Deloitte in New York, NY since completing her undergraduate studies in 2007.  At Deloitte, Tatiana works in the Human Capital Consulting function and advises Fortune 500 companies across industries as they address their business challenges through transformative HR solutions around talent strategies (attraction, recruitment, selection and retention), leadership development and education, HR outsourcing and strategic global mobility. As a student, she held internships at Citigroup and Morgan Stanley, where she was part of the candidate selection process in reviewing candidate resumes, among other things. She and her husband, Jeff, are members of Saints Peter and Paul Church, Jersey City, NJ.

Subsequent webinars and dates include

  • Cover Letters, Using Your Network and Social Networking (February 21).
  • Do’s and Don’ts of the Interview Process (March 21).
  • Your Faith and Your Work/Life Balance (April 11).

All webinars will start at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time and run for approximately one hour.  Registration for the first webinar—on resume writing—is now available and may be accessed at this link.  These webinars are offered for free through the generosity of many, but space is limited by the software.  Early registration is strongly recommended.
