The Organization:

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America is a religious not-for-profit organization. While the main administrative and ministerial offices are in New York City, there are departments with employees working from other states, as well as 8 affiliated “dioceses” strategically located in the United States with employees who are residents in those locations.

Summary Position Description:

  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the Paychex payroll system and processing bimonthly payroll
  • Communicate and assist employees with payroll and benefits inquiries
  • Ensure compliance with Federal labor and income tax laws
  • Ensure compliance with each state's varying labor and income tax laws
  • Prepare or review any necessary Federal or state payroll or labor law compliance reports
  • Manage 403(b) defined contribution pension and other pension deductions
  • Monitor time sheets for compliance
  • Reconcile all benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision
  • Manage record-keeping and processing of paid vacations, sick days, and overtime  
  • Produce payroll and human resource reports as requested
  • Handle worker’s compensation claims and audits
  • Ensure correctness of Forms W-2 and 1099 and other tax records and reports
  • Ensure employment and termination procedures comply with labor statutes
  • Maintain personnel records
  • Maintain payroll and payroll tax records

Qualifications:

  • College degree
  • Experience in payroll and human resource management
  • Full understanding and capability to comply with Federal and multiple state labor and tax laws
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Strong understanding of human resource administration

Compensation:

$65,000 - 70,000 (commensurate on experience) and eligibility for medical benefits and other benefits
