Office Manager


The Office Manager is the front line of the office and works under the supervision of the Presiding Priest and would support the parish Vision Statement: “The Church of the Archangels is an Orthodox Christian community that welcomes everyone. We experience the love of Jesus Christ and we proclaim and celebrate the Good News of salvation for all God’s people through prayer, worship, fellowship, education, compassion, service, and outreach.”

Duties and Tasks

  • Welcome members, visitors, seekers and vendors
  • Monitor carefully who enters our complex
  • Answer phone calls, take messages, handle correspondence (mail & email) and act promptly to follow through in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and clutter-free lobby and office area
  • Administer computer records through data entry and management in “Church Community Builder” (on-line administrative software):
    • Membership information – names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, etc.
    • Stewardship – pledges of time & talents as well as financial contributions
    • Ministries – enrollment, events, messages
    • Calendar – events, space, contact information
    • Communication – email, letters 
  • Documentation
    • Baptismal, Wedding, and Death certificates
    • Confirm all relevant information in Registry Books and with District office
    • Maintain files
    • Type documents and reports
    • Collect reports and documents and make copies for Parish Council
    • Assist in producing Sunday Bulletins
    • Assist in producing and distributing Weekly Bulletin
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of records
  • Maintain bulletin boards
  • Arrange meetings with participants, help coordinate coffee hour, receptions and special events
  • Assist in scheduling appointments of Presiding Priest
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and take notes
  • Order and maintain office and other supplies

Working Environment

  • Office desk with computer, phone & internet, closet and filing cabinets
  • After each working session, secure all pertinent records
  • As appropriate, tasks can be done at home
  • Must be able to deal with distractions (answering calls, assisting visitors)


  • High School diploma (or equivalent) required
  • 4-year bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in office administration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Typing ability of 50 words/minute preferred
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, organize tasks, attend to detail, and manage time
  • Ability to articulate clearly in English, both orally and in writing
  • Some knowledge of modern Greek language preferred but not required

Evaluation & Compensation

  • Background check will be conducted upon employment
  • Initial performance evaluation after first 180 days, then annually
  • Annual compensation review by the Parish Council
  • Hours:  30+ hours/week (e.g., Mon – Fri, 8:30am-2:30pm), with potential to become full time
  • Beginning salary:  commensurate with experience
  • Paid leave:  negotiable
