I.           PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Database Administrator manages technical database design, development and testing. Additional duties include data analysis and reporting, data entry, and program evaluation support. The Database Administrator position also responds to users of data systems and troubleshoots technical issues.

 

II.         ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and assist in development enhancements to the database
  • Train, coordinate, support and monitor the quality of work of any staff using the database
  • Maintain the credibility of the data in the database through data monitoring and updates
  • Learn about new upgrades and improvements that will enhance the users’ experience and productivity
  • Document database features and functionality and related user interfaces
  • Create and maintain the user’s manual for specific processes
  • Develop common data queries and updates to user interfaces, as appropriate
  • Generate data queries and reports as required
  • Provide technical support to Administrative Associates to produce mass mailings and provide other program support activities as necessary
  • Complete other duties as required

IV.        KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • 3-5 years professional experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or other relevant area
  • Strong interpersonal skills required; ability to work with all level of staff within the organization
  • Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize duties and manage expectations in a constantly-changing environment
  • Ability to manage and use a variety of software and technology
  • Strong experience in relational database systems such as mySQL, SQL Server, MS Access
  • Practices of database design, mySQL and intermediate relational database queries
  • Business software such as Advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Crystal Reports, Access and Outlook
  • Research and report preparation principles
  • Basic principles of program evaluation
  • Demonstrated ability to teach others and strong commitment to end-user support required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities and to pay close and accurate attention to detail.
  • Ability to be both strategic and creative as well as to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.

None

 

VI.        EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT

Extensive contact with all office and field staff as well as sponsors and donors

 

 

VII.     PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Limited to walking and occasional lifting of boxes

 

 

VIII.   WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT

May be required to work extra/off-duty hours when necessary
