Job Title: CrossRoad Assistant Director (Part-Time)

The CrossRoad Summer Institute is a ten-day academic summer institute that prepares high school juniors and seniors to make big life decisions and invites them to connect with the Orthodox Christian theological and spiritual tradition. Participants from all over the country come together to experience daily worship, take theology classes from some of the best professors in the country, visit local parishes, serve their neighbor, tour the city, and be part of a life-giving community.

General Position Summary 

The CR Assistant Director will (1) in conjunction with the CrossRoad Director, plan and run three ten-day summer sessions; (2) assist the Director in organizing CrossRoad alumni initiatives (retreat and newsletter); (3) work in collaboration with the OVM team.

During the academic year, the Assistant Director will work part time (15-20 hours/week). Increased hours during the summer.

Reports to: CrossRoad Director & OVM Director

Job Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • B.A. & Masters-level coursework in Orthodox theology

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Solid grounding in Orthodox Christian church life

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Multicultural sensitivity
  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously

Pastoral/Theological Skills

  • Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, relationship and pastoral sensitivity. For example:
  • Providing the time and space for mentoring relationships, conversations and opportunities to occur between staff and CR participants/alumni
  • Engaging in empathetic listening
  • Facilitate and foster healthy group dynamics with program staff and each CrossRoad session through attentiveness to staff dynamics, cliques, behavior, and general community-life

  • Commensurate with experience (part-time hourly)
