Job Description

Mission: The primary mission of The Director of the Youth and Young Adult Ministries is to connect with the young people of our parish and lead them to engage in the fullness of the faith and the active life of the Orthodox Christian Church.  We are seeking someone who is passionate about Youth and Young Adult ministry, who has strong interpersonal and team-building skills, and whose own life serves as an example of what it means to live out one’s faith as an Orthodox Christian.

 

Description: The Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries is responsible for the implementation, development, and evaluation of all non-liturgical programs and activities of the youth and young adults in the parish.  This work will be done under the direction of the Parish Priest, and in coordination with and assistance from a team of advisors to these groups. This person will work collaboratively to create a long term vision for the Youth and Young Adults of St. Demetrios.


Job Requirements

Qualifications

 

  1. Baptised, Orthodox Christian in good standing.

  2. Four-year college degree and 2-3 years of youth work experience preferred.

  3. Excellent leadership, administrative, time management and interpersonal/communication skills.

  4. Background in education and an understanding of child development desirable.

  5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and email and social media communications (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

  6. Willingness to submit to a background check.

  1. Active in the liturgical life of the parish, with conscientious attendance at services of the church and a steward in good standing

  2. Ability to teach, model and uphold the teachings of the Orthodox Christian faith.

Salary and Benefit Package

 

  1. Starting annual salary to be given when interviewed.

  2. Health, dental and vision insurance.

  3. Two (2) weeks, approved, paid vacation annually.
