Youth Director
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain and develop current youth programs offered by St. Athanasios, and create new programs as deemed appropriate by the Proistamenos, Parish Council and the Youth Director.
- Preparation and maintenance of the youth ministries calendar and events with office staff.
- Timely placement of youth ministries events on the annual church calendar, and communicate via Weekly Bulletin, The Champion monthly newsletter, and Social Media.
- Coordination with other religious programming (Sunday School) in collaboration with Proistamenos and Sunday School Director (who will report to the Youth Director).
- Enlists volunteers where needed to help coordinate, run/lead Youth ministries programs.
- Manages the Youth Protection Services program for the parish.
- Works with Proistamenos to recruit and train youth workers for each Youth ministries group who will assist in planning and coordinating youth programs and activities.
- Utilizes available Orthodox Christian resources where available for Youth discussion groups.
- Maintain social media account related to youth ministries.
- Coordinate Junior Olympic team.
- Attend 2-3 weeks of Fanari.
Job Requirements:
- A baptized Orthodox Christian in Good Standing
- Maintains a love for Christ and His Church
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Religious Studies and/or Education and/or Youth Studies from an accredited 4-year college or university preferred
- Participate in continuous education/seminars/conferences addressing current youth issues
- The ability to mentor/role model for youth and young adults.
- Successfully works in a multi-staff setting experience.
- Ability to work independently in the initiation of programs and the organization of events.
- Ability to get along well and work productively with others.
- Ability to speak before the Parish Council and other Parish groups or organizations.
- Ability to write routine reports, documents, and correspondence.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
- Ability to become First Aid/CPR certified.
- Strong social media skills and understands how to effectively use web resources.
- Minimum 3-year commitment to the St. Athanasios Youth Ministries program
Hours:
- The Youth Director requires a flexible schedule and ability to work some evenings and weekends. 20-25 hours per week.
- Youth Director is expected to attend Saint Athanasios for Sunday Divine Liturgy.
Pay:
$2,000 per month
Preferred:
- Prior experience in working with GOYA, Sunday School of all ages, camps and retreats.
- Attain the Hellenic Youth Ministries Certificate within 3 years of hiring.
