Departments of Information Technology and Communications Intern

The intern will work in the Information Technology Department and Communications and support the department’s implementation of a new digital asset (photo and video) management system.

The intern will be involved in implementing one of the industry-leading digital asset management systems at the Archdiocese and provide the applicant with invaluable, practical experience in digital asset management systems such as those used in medicine, museums, production studios, and Fortune 500 companies. The internship includes:

  1. The setup, deployment, and configuration of various aspects of an industry-leading digital asset management system.
  2. Organizing, cataloging, and consolidating a vast library of photography assets.
  3. Using AI to tag and identify aspects of photos.
  4. Create automations for Social Media publishing from the Digital Asset Management System and create custom templates to deploy photo assets according with the standards of various Social Media platforms.
  5. Add and catalog historical and archival photography and multimedia assets into the system.
  6. Assist in the development of workflows, approvals, and deployment of templates and portals for external news agencies and partners.

This Summer Internship Program begins Monday, June 3, 2024, and ends Friday, August 2, 2024. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm with a 30-minute meal period. This position is located at the New York City office (10 E. 79th Street). The intern will also be a part of the intern cohort team that will work on a company project in addition to the work assigned from the department. The results of the project will be formally presented to senior leadership during the last week of the summer program.

Benefits:

  • $600.00 per week (total of $4,800.00)
  • Travel expenses are $25.00 per week

Requirements:

  • Must be a College Student.
  • Individuals are interested in communications, graphic design, photography, videography, Library Sciences, Archival Sciences, Graphic Design, social media, Marketing, or publishing technologies.
  • Majors who should consider applying: PR, Graphic Design, Photography, Library Science, Communications, Computer Science, Marketing, Social Media Management, Archival Sciences.
  • Solid experience and fluency with Social Media platforms.
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written), knowledge of Greek not required.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent thinker and ability to structure and organize seemingly disparate buckets of information.
  • Prioritization of assignments and able to multitask.
  • A fast-learner. Able to work as a self-starter and a team member depending on the project.
  • Willing to provide new insights/recommendations to projects and issues of concern.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Bridge, Apple Photo, Flickr, Google Photos, Extensis Portfolio, Canto, ImageKit, or similar a plus.
  • Understanding aspects of photo and video types (RAW, TIFF, JPEG), resolutions, and metadata a plus, though not required.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe InDesign a plus but not required.
  • Possible Added Responsibilities:
    • Support photographers in rollout of the DAM system.
    • Create end user documentation for DAM system rollout.
    • Assist in development of digital asset web portals for external collaborators and contributors.
    • Support expansion of the DAM system into various initiatives of the Department (e.g. CRM) by envisioning alterations to current projects and/or proposing new projects.
    • General administrative duties.
