The Administrative Assistant / Department of Publications Business Manager

The Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America (ROEA) is an Archdiocese of the Orthodox Church in America. It was established as a Diocese at a general Church Congress held in the city of Detroit, Michigan, on April 25-28, 1929. The ROEA functions as a non-profit, religious organization chartered in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan. The ROEA is headed by an Archbishop who oversees approximately 100 parishes and three monasteries located in the United States and Canada.

The Administrative Assistant / Department of Publications Business Manager provides administrative support to Archbishop and Chancery staff. Duties include general clerical, receptionist, and project-based work and managing the financial operations of the Department of Publications.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily office management of Chancery including but not limited to:

  • Opening and closing the office
  • Answering the telephone, transferring calls, and taking messages
  • Meeting and greeting Chancery visitors.
  • General clerical duties:  emailing, faxing, copying, filing
  • Collecting mail from the post office, sorting and delivering office mail, signing for and distributing packages
  • Managing office supplies and supervising the maintenance of office machines, computers, and information technology needs (security, etc.)
  • Maintaining the hard copy and electronic filing system
  • Create and modify documents using Microsoft Office and Adobe Software
  • Researching and purchasing office furniture and supplies as needed and approved
  • Maintaining and updating the Episcopate website and social media

Complete management of ROEA Department of Publications finances and projects:

  • Managing accounts receivable and payable
  • Maintaining all financial records and accounts
  • Producing reports as needed and requested
  • Fulfilling orders for Episcopate publications
  • Maintaining the Episcopate physical mail and email databases

Assistant to ROEA Financial Operations

  • Assist Controller as needed

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Computing skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Adobe programs
  • Basic professional accounting and accounting software skills (QuickBooks)

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support staff in assigned project-based work as assigned by the Archbishop or Auxiliary Bishop
  • Other duties as assigned by the Archbishop or the Chancellor
